Status Effects
This is a complete list of all status effects a character can suffer from during combat scenarios.
For documentation of all actions a character may take during their turn, see TURN ACTIONS.
Ailment Status Effects
Acidic
You're being eaten alive.
- The ACIDIC status effect inflicts damage worth 5HP for 5 turns.
- While suffering from the ACIDIC status effect, recieve a -2 penalty on all rolls to hit.
- The ACIDIC status effect cannot be cured.
Bound
Well, isn't that inconvenient.
- The BOUND status effect has two variants: Lethal and Non-Lethal.
- While suffering from the Lethal variant, all movement except the use of a gun is restricted and characters take damage worth 5HP each turn until freed.
- While suffering from the Non-Lethal variant, all movement is restricted until the character is freed.
- The BOUND status effect may be cured by successfully performing the Escape action.
Burning
You're burning alive.
- The BURNING status effect inflicts incremental damage worth 10HP on the first turn and +10HP each turn thereafter until cured.
- Example: On a character's second turn suffering from the BURNING status effect, they will take damage worth 20HP.
- If a character becomes incapacitated while suffering from the BURNING status effect, they will die.
- The BURNING status effect can be cured by successfully performing the Put Yourself Out action.
Concussed
You're seeing double.
- The CONCUSSED status effect inflicts a -5 penalty on all rolls to hit for the duration of the combat scenario or event.
- The CONCUSSED status effect cannot be cured.
Infection
You've contracted the virus.
- The INFECTION status effect does not inflict any damage or penalties during the current combat scenario.
- The INFECTION status effect cannot be cured; any character afflicted with the INFECTION status effect is guaranteed to die.
Mind-Controlled
You're surrounded by enemies.
- The MIND-CONTROLLED status effect makes characters susceptible to their enemy's will and forces them to perform actions as instructed.
- While suffering from the MIND-CONTROLLED status effect, players will temporarily lose all control of their character, excluding the character's dialogue.
- Characters may attempt to cure themselves of the MIND-CONTROLLED status effect by rolling a contesting D20 die against their enemy.
- For rolls HIGHER than the opposing die, characters successfully break free and are cured.
- For rolls LOWER than the opposing die, characters remain afflicted.
- If a character fails 2 consecutive rolls, they will only break free once the enemy has been defeated.
Poisoned
You're not feeling so good.
- The POISONED status effect inflicts damage worth 5HP each turn until cured.
- While suffering from the POISONED status effect, recieve a -1 penalty on all rolls to hit for the first turn, and an additional -1 each turn thereafter.
- The POISONED status effect can be cured by using the following medical items, purchasable from certain traders and recoverable during events:
Stunned
You're seeing stars.
- The STUNNED status effect prevents all actions on the first turn following its onset.
- While suffering from the STUNNED status effect, after the first turn, recieve a -2 penalty on all rolls to hit for 1 turn.
- The STUNNED status effect cannot be cured until it ends naturally.
Injury Status Effects
Bleeding
Who knew you had so much blood inside?
- The BLEEDING status effect inflicts damage worth 10HP each turn until treated.
- After 5 turns, if left untreated, characters recieve the BLOOD LOSS status effect.
- The BLEEDING status effect can be treated by using the following medical items, purchasable from certain traders and recoverable during events:
- First Aid Kits
- Wound Kits
- Revitalisol Medicinal Spray
- Hemolock Supplements
- Bandages
- Makeshift Bandages
Blood Loss
You can't even stand up straight anymore.
- The BLOOD LOSS status effect is sustained after suffering from the BLEEDING status effect for 5 turns without treatment.
- While suffering from the BLOOD LOSS status effect, characters receive a -2 on all rolls to hit and enemies receive a +3 boost on all rolls to hit them.
- Additionally, characters receive a decrease in their maximum number of available downs, from 3 to 2.
- The BLOOD LOSS status effect cannot be treated.
Crippled
You're not feeling so fast anymore.
- The CRIPPLED status effect restricts a character's ability to Sprint for the remainder of the combat scenario or event.
- While suffering from the CRIPPLED status effect, enemies receive a +3 boost on all rolls to hit the suffering character.
- The CRIPPLED status effect cannot be treated.
Fracture
That's not supposed to bend like that.
- The FRACTURE status effect has two variants: Arm and Leg.
- The Arm variant restricts characters to one-handed weapons and inflicts a -3 penalty on all rolls to hit.
- If mitigated by a Splint Kit, weapon restrictions still apply but the penalty is reduced to -1 on all rolls to hit.
- The Leg variant restricts a character's movement to 1 tile per AP and grants enemies a +3 boost on all rolls to hit them.
- If mitigated by a Splint Kit, movement restrictions still apply but the boost is reduced to +1 on all rolls to hit them.
- The FRACTURE status effect cannot be removed entirely, but may be mitigated by using the following medical items, purchasable from certain traders and recoverable during events:
Gouged Eye
One's better than none.
- The GOUGED EYE status effect inflicts a -3 penalty on all rolls to hit.
- The GOUGED EYE status effect cannot be treated.
Heavy Wound
Isn't that supposed to be inside of you?
- The HEAVY WOUND status effect inflicts a stackable restoration restriction worth 25HP.
- While suffering from two or more HEAVY WOUNDS, characters are restricted to one-handed weapons for melee attacks and revolvers or pistols for ranged attacks, as well as a movement restriction of 1 tile per AP.
- The HEAVY WOUND status effect can only be treated by using the following medical items, purchasable from certain traders and recoverable during events:
- First Aid Kits
- Wound Kits
Minor Wound
Just a flesh wound, right?
- The MINOR WOUND status effect inflicts a stackable restoration restriction worth 10HP.
- The MINOR WOUND status effect can only be treated by using the following medical items, purchasable from certain traders and recoverable during events:
- Revitalisol Medicinal Spray
- First Aid Kits
- Wound Kits
Paralyzed
You can't feel anything.
- The PARALYZED status effect has three variants: Permanent, Temporary, and Venom.
- The Permanent variant renders characters completely immobilized.
- This variant cannot be treated.
- The Temporary variant renders characters temporarily immobilized.
- This variant can be treated with time and physical therapy.
- The Venom variant renders characters immobilized until they are treated.
- This variant can be treated by using Purifinex Supplements, purchasable from certain traders and recoverable during events.
