APPEARANCE
Ming stands at a solid 5'3 and is just a little on the 'chubby' side, though likely that softness won't last long. Her black hair is now most often seen in a ponytail or a bun to keep it away from grabbing hands. She suffers from nearsightedness and wears glasses, and one of her first tasks was making an elastic headband to keep them in place while running. She likes to wear coats; either flannels, raincoats, winter coats, or even her old medical coat. Her stained white lab coat has been painted on the back with a makeshift red cross, in the hopes that signalling her presence as a medic will both help people in need...and make her too valuable to be killed outright by hostile groups.
THE PAST
Ming is a Chinese-American born in Charleston, SC. She was always a quiet girl, a studious girl and a good daughter from a good respectable family. She was sent to school at UNC, with hopes that she would join the medical profession. And in a way, she did. Though the stresses of school led her declining to study to be a doctor, she graduated with a degree in pharmaceuticals.
From there, she wheedled her way out from under her (rather overbearing) parents and moved to Texas when she was 26. Being hired at a lab in El Paso, she soon began dating a fellow lab technician. But the relationship turned tepid after a few years and things fell apart. Rather than continue trying to work alongside him, Ming took a job at a smaller pharmacy division in Fort Holly and moved away.
She's only been there for less than two years. And in less than two weeks, it all went to hell. She and her co-workers at the pharmacy looted the supplies they could before they departed to find their families. But Ming had no family to find, and she initially tried to barricade herself in her apartment, though the growing numbers of corpses and the lack of contact soon drove her out. Left alone on the road, she went searching for other survivors like her. Though she managed to survive the initial waves of panic and chaos, Ming isn't entirely sure how long someone like her can last on her own.
