≫ WHAT WE BECOME: SURVIVOR STORIES APPLICATIONS ≪

  • Applications for What We Become: Survivor Stories are currently on hold while we work on creating our second wave of combat tests.

What We Become: Survivor Stories is a series of bite-sized scenarios meant to test our new and improved combat system in action! Our first wave contained 5 different scenarios, all taking place within the What We Become universe. Our second wave will contain 5 more scenarios. If you've been waiting to play on the server, now's your chance!

Additionally, each scenario has a limited number of slots for each role in the party, as well as an overall participation limit. If you apply for a role/scenario that is already full, you will be asked to apply for a different role/scenario. You can view the number of slots remaining for the current scenario on its respective forum post, linked above.

Hey! I'm sure by the title you're wondering what's going on and where Lines We Cross is ... well, I have a few announcements. Before we get into it though, I want to thank each and every one of you for hanging in there over the course of the past few months. I know it's been quiet around these parts, and I know the lack of information has to be disheartening to some. I hope we can clear up some of those doubts and help you all understand our plans going forward in terms of releases for our new lore, as well as Lines We Cross. Let's get into it.

What We Become Part II: What Remains (Announcement | Release Date | Information)

"December 15th, 2028. Thirteen years have passed since Oculurubrus, or Red Eye left our civilization rotting, our cities falling, and our very notion of life broken. We watched as vines and greenery consumed our mighty towers, as corpses inhabited our homes and entire countries went dark, but in some corners of the world, new civilizations began to thrive, new hopes and dreams formed - one such place in Monroe County, New York, a place divided by uneasy treaties, differing cultures, and secrets lying dormant under dirt and ruin. You are one of many survivors, a wanderer, a mercenary, a raider, a hero, a villain, and this is your story of revelation and survival. What will you become?"

Release Date:
8/7/2020 | August 7th, 2020

This is our big announcement, Part II of What We Become. Why are we doing this? Simple, we've been waiting since last October for these new animations to release with multiplayer, and at this point in the game, we're confident it won't be out until the end of the year with how things usually go in terms of release windows. We've decided not to worry ourselves with it, and when it releases, it releases. Anyways ... I'll be making a separate thread with each of these, but I want to introduce you to the world of What Remains, and the factions you'll be interacting within it.

The Coalition of Pittsford and Fairpoint (C.P.F. or “The Coalition”)
"There is an idea of The Coalition, an idea of hope, an idea of happiness, an idea of diversity among adversity. This, however, has remained an idea since its founding, an advert for a community that claims to have morals but that mask of sanity is about to slip at any given moment and most of Monroe County knows it. New America, as some have aptly chosen to refer to it as is a combustible element and an ever-growing one at that. But, some choose to see it as something else, a melting pot for culture, a breeding ground for corruption, expansion, and hope for law and order. The Coalition is self-sufficient compared to most communities and alliances, being able to produce enough food to safely feed each of its residents and many more, but lack in the area of weapons, a weakness its new leaders are seeking to fix. They are known for one other thing, however, an excellent military force disguised as “Lawkeepers” and “Rangers” tasked with upholding the rules of law in the Wasteland through any means necessary."

Brighton

"An isolated economic hotspot that primarily operates through the basis of “orders”, it is led by three unknown individuals. Brighton is strict on who it allows within its walls and even stricter on who it decides to operate with. Most residents are cherry-picked, bringing in a variety of talented individuals with a number of different skills. The amount of concrete information on Brighton’s infrastructure is disturbingly low, with most of it being in the form of rumor and hearsay; some claim they’ve figured out how to produce ammo and have gotten foundries running again. Nobody can say for sure."

The Crows
"Over the past six-or-so years, caravaneers have started to spin tales of their time on the road and encounter with a mysterious group of nomads only known as “The Crows”, whispers of this group have spread through Arizona, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Missouri, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, and now New York. Rumors have varied, with some believing them to be wandering cannibals, and some seeing them in a more romanticized light; a truly “free” people who have ditched societal norms to live something closer to where humanity originally came from."

Monroe
"An unknown community that has unwisely decided to lay claim to a stretch of land known as “The Barrens” between The Coalition, Brighton, and several other factions. Previously, the land was known as a neutral “mid-ground” to each faction but is now becoming hotly contested for the claim. Monroe's laws, though some may deem them lax, reflects the community and its leader, Julian Carmichael Ortiz. There's heavy emphasis on protection and safety, though things like speech and religion remain unrestricted so long as they do not endanger the group. Visitors and outsiders are treated fairly, though they're kept under watchful eye."

Monroe has existed in The Barrens for two years now.

Character Ideas
CPF

You could play a lawkeeper or detective coming from one of the two towns in the CPF who is investigating a murder, abduction, or some other crime. This investigation could lead them to The Barrens and Monroe. If you choose to do this, we will give you things to further your characters backstory goal.

Or, you could play one of the Rangers of the CPF sent from one of the towns to The Barrens with the mission of laying claim to Monroe and swaying local leadership to join forces with The Coalition, or even discover the location of the mysterious Brighton.

Brighton
You could play one of many caravaneers looking to catch the eye of Brighton officials in order to be recruited and brought to the hidden town for a better life, and better wares to sell. If you do this, we will be watching and seeing how often you log on and how much business you're able to get.

The Crows
You could play one of the Lost Crows, a member who has been officially sworn in as a member but has lost contact and the ability to reunite with their particular troop of Crows. It could be in your character's backstory to search for them, to reunite with your "new family" by any means necessary.

You could play an isolated member of The Crows that hasn't found or created their own troop yet. It could be in your character's backstory to create your own tribe or to make a name for yourself and catch the eye of The Crow Mother, the mysterious leader of The Crows to become one of the members of her inner circle.

Monroe
You could play one of the pre-existing residents of Monroe with any varying occupation. Perhaps a security officer, farmer, scout, merchant, or maybe a mercenary simply trying to get by. The choice is yours.

The options are endless, let your imagination dictate what you play. If you include any sort of backstory hooks in your character, we will help you to further the story with events and so on. This is YOUR story.

Lines We Cross Status
This lore will still happen and is still in active production. It will come once animations release, and when our new lore concludes! Now, you may be wondering what will happen to your currently accepted characters. That decision belongs to you; if you would rather edit the backstory around and play them in our new lore, you can do that, or if you would rather keep them on ice for Lines We Cross when animations drop, you can do that!
