≫ WHAT WE BECOME: SURVIVOR STORIES APPLICATIONS ≪

  • Applications for What We Become: Survivor Stories are currently on hold while we work on creating our second wave of combat tests.

What We Become: Survivor Stories is a series of bite-sized scenarios meant to test our new and improved combat system in action! Our first wave contained 5 different scenarios, all taking place within the What We Become universe. Our second wave will contain 5 more scenarios. If you've been waiting to play on the server, now's your chance!

Additionally, each scenario has a limited number of slots for each role in the party, as well as an overall participation limit. If you apply for a role/scenario that is already full, you will be asked to apply for a different role/scenario. You can view the number of slots remaining for the current scenario on its respective forum post, linked above.

2022 - Outside the Ruins of Clovis, New Mexico

The sun rose over the endless prairie and overgrown fields of the New Mexico - Texas border, the landscape littered with abandoned cars and occasional pothole, a result of roads that have faced years of neglect prior. Along the road was an abandoned Truck Stop/Diner Combo. It was likely abandoned for year, being picked clean by hungry travelers many years prior. At the very least, it was free of Reds, and more importantly, other people.

Parked in the back was a beat up camper van, circa what looked to be either from the 1970s or 1980s. The windows were covered with blackout curtains from the inside, and a cover in front to prevent the car from being warmed up too much, not that it helped, since the interior temperature was getting uncomfortably hot.

Charlotte rolled over on her mattress before slowly opening her eyes. She spent a moment coming too, before grabbing her watch off the shelf. The interior was decorated somewhat, to the point it could almost be called cozy. Charlotte's mattress was pushed towards the right side of the van, with box of clothing at the foot of the mattress. The walls had shelves littering them, with various items, mostly CDs. Charlotte held up her watch and squinted. 7:30am. I guess it was time to get up.

Charlotte quickly dressed in what was effectively the same clothes she had one yesterday. Unfortunately, it didn't seem like laundry day would be coming for some time. Once she was finished lacing up her sneakers, and checking her gun, before climbing out the back of the van and meeting the hot Southwestern sun.

Fuel was on the menu today, and unfortunately, Charlotte would have to march to town to get it. She was out unfortunately, and it didn't seem like she would be able to make it the next town. There was an abandoned air force base nearby, and as such, Charlotte set up for it.

It was around noon when Charlotte made it to the perimeter fence of Cannon Airforce Base. The fence, thankfully, wasn't an issue due to years of neglect. What Charlotte was more worried about in this situation were others. Charlotte had zero information about this place, and she could be shot at any moment, however, at the moment it seems like it was quiet and empty. That didn't mean Charlotte didn't keep an hand on her gun.

Charlotte made her way over towards the runway, keeping an eye out over her shoulder. Abandoned, and picked completely clean. The remaining aircraft were just pieces at this point, and the armory wasn't worth checking out. She made her way to one of the main fuel tanks and began filling her Jerry Can with what little fuel was left. She managed to get half a can in before she heard a crash behind her. She turned around and upholstered her weapon in one fell swoop before seeing a Red, dressed in the tatters of military fatigues coming right for her. She fired a single shot into it's skull, grabbed her Jerry Can and made a run for it.

It was about 4:30pm when Charlotte got back. Thankfully her van was still intact. There weren't people out here after all. Hell, all she ran into were a couple reds on her way back. I guess that really begs the question of why there weren't many people here, but I doubt she wanted to find out.

It is honestly a miracle that van could run at all, considering the lack of replacement parts or general maintenance. Charlotte thankfully learned a thing or two back in Valley Station when it came to cars, but, she knew even her maintenance knowledge would last forever. Charlotte filled the tank up with her gas, making sure to save some for later. She would take off tomorrow, not having a destination in mind, but trying to find answers to her own inner demons, but firstly, she needed to eat and get some rest.
