  • Applications for What We Become: Survivor Stories are currently on hold while we work on creating our second wave of combat tests.

    What We Become: Survivor Stories is a series of bite-sized scenarios meant to test our new and improved combat system in action! Our first wave contained 5 different scenarios, all taking place within the What We Become universe. Our second wave will contain 5 more scenarios. If you've been waiting to play on the server, now's your chance!

    Additionally, each scenario has a limited number of slots for each role in the party, as well as an overall participation limit. If you apply for a role/scenario that is already full, you will be asked to apply for a different role/scenario. You can view the number of slots remaining for the current scenario on its respective forum post, linked above.

Today, we’re announcing a lot of new things - including a new lore!

First order of business, there have been some changes to staff as many of you may have noticed. As we lose Mindgate and Pixie, we are gaining LilBit, Commisar Holt, and myself!
I will also be handling all social media platforms to be updating you all on changes, events and more! This is our first lore without Mind, so please bear with us as we figure out how we work together. Many of our admins have been hard at work making sure everything is set up, and ready for this new chapter in our community.

Second, we will be doing the long-requested, sandbox lore. This lore will be primarily driven by the players with mini-arcs and other world events from the staff. The admin team has been put into pairs to create their own NPC arcs together, and see how they work as a team, so expect some new ideas as different creative minds come together. There will also be time skips at some point during the lore which will be announced when we decide it’s a good time to have one. Another request that is being fulfilled, is an open map! Yes, we are completely opening the map to players. This means long drives with your pals, or maybe a long drive to murder. Whatever it is your heart desires.

Now, let’s get to the part you all are truly interested in. What is in store for this sandbox lore?

The Location: Our story will be based in Texas, south of San Antonio which means you CAN have a character from Mexico, and South America. We have also changed the names of our basic Kentucky cities and replaced them with names decided by the members of staff. Be sure to remember this when creating your characters if you plan on making them from any of these cities. The changes are as follows:

Rosewood, KY is now Haven, TX
Muldraugh, KY is now Stone Reach, TX
West Point, KY is now Fort Holly, TX
Valley Station, KY is now Landon, TX
March Ridge, KY is now Winslow Creek, TX
Riverside, KY is now Jubilee, TX
Dixie, KY is now Plymouth, TX

Date:
The start date will be June 1st, 2019 - two weeks after the outbreak which gives you time to have an established group, and possibly a safe house.

Zombies: We’ll be doing fast shamblers. Depending on how long the lore goes on for, they will begin to deteriorate and slow down. Zombies also attack animals. If an animal is infected, however, there will be no visible signs other than the possible bitemark.
The methods of transmission include blood and saliva, depending on the amount of either one that you are exposed to will be how quickly you turn. In the first hour, victims can expect a fever, cold sweats, and nausea. Followed by paranoia, hallucinations, vomiting of blood and a burning sensation under their skin. Bite victims will die within 6 hours of initial infection. Scratches are survivable. Amputation will work if you move quickly enough as the infection spreads rapidly throughout the body.

NPCS: We will be tweaking Mindgate’s Redshirt PVP system very slightly and adding cover modifiers which you can read more about in the rules section, but for the first time ever, allowing players to gain NPC’s through missions and chance encounters to build their factions. These NPC’s can be given a task to collect certain items that will be able to be collected at the end of the week, along with fighting off enemies alongside their fellow faction members. Some of these NPC’s can have their own arcs, and events. Admins will log onto these characters from time to time to interact with players, but will be mannequins when not active.
In the case of assigning a task, and collection, please contact an admin. We will be keeping tabs on who has what NPCS, what their jobs are, and when the last time you collected was.

Ex. Faction One has NPC Barbara. Barbara is assigned to hunt. Every Friday, Barbara comes back with x amount of game for the faction.

Grouping: You will be able to select the option to be put in a randomized group while sending in your character application just like last lore. We will assign you a place, and allow your group to work out how they met!
