≫ WHAT WE BECOME: SURVIVOR STORIES APPLICATIONS ≪

  • Applications for What We Become: Survivor Stories are currently on hold while we work on creating our second wave of combat tests.

What We Become: Survivor Stories is a series of bite-sized scenarios meant to test our new and improved combat system in action! Our first wave contained 5 different scenarios, all taking place within the What We Become universe. Our second wave will contain 5 more scenarios. If you've been waiting to play on the server, now's your chance!

Additionally, each scenario has a limited number of slots for each role in the party, as well as an overall participation limit. If you apply for a role/scenario that is already full, you will be asked to apply for a different role/scenario. You can view the number of slots remaining for the current scenario on its respective forum post, linked above.

Make sure to check out our latest newsletter if you haven't yet! It has lots of information about our upcoming lore, among other things.

Thought I might put this here so I can update the status on the world I'm making in PZ, and at least, explain my thought processes. This first post will serve as my Table of Contents.

Dev Diary One - Concept/The Work So Far

So, I'm wondering how I can start this, however, I feel the easiest way is to just jump into it.

So, the idea behind my map, is inspired the university I currently attend, and thinking to myself that it would be fun to fight zombies in. So, the project was born, and I started working on it, teaching myself the map tools as I go.

The Campus So Far
At the moment, the project is it it's early stages, and most buildings are likely going to change. However in the meantime, we have 3 Campus buildings and the university library.

Anyways, for the most part, I did do a map of my plans of how I want the University to look like, at least, some sort of game plan. I will most likely not follow.

Lovely, Isn't it. Here is the Key. Disclaimer, not to Scale.

-Black = Roads
-Red = Pedestrian Paths
-Yellow = Classrooms
-Blue = Campus Housing
-Pink = Athletic
-Green = Park

Lovely, anyways, Next Part of when I have more to show, and possibly might concern the rest of Kalapuya, including my plans on how to structure the rest of the city around the university.

Sorry for not being able to keep up the past few weeks, though, I AM working on something new! Here is a small preview of the subject of the first full dev diary.

Edited to Provide a Much Better Screenshot after a few hours of work and solidifying the building's footprint.

Dev Diary Two - Learning curves.

We're back again with my currently work in progress mod. Firstly I have many things I need to go over.

1. Did you get anything done since November?

Yes, and no. I got some things done, but I honestly was burnt out over Winter Break, however, I'm coming back with some new inspiration, and I'm quickly getting things done.

2. What is the current scope of the project.

Difficult to say at this point. I made a mockup of what I want, to do, along with the maximum I think I can do within about 10 years, and a map of my version of the State of Oregon, drawn by myself in MS Paint. Lovely...

Current Mockup
But this is a long time away, and this, I'm going to continue to focus on the University and the surrounding neighborhoods.

3. Is there a release date?

No, but I hope to have a test version our soon once I feel like there is enough here for someone to survive a somewhat long time.

Library Redesign

The Library's (name is pending) has had its ground floor redesign, adding in a full reception/processing area, as well as large computer lab.

Also a reflecting pool, just to spice things up, and give it a newer feeling.

-----

New Radio Stations

This mod will also include several new broadcasts to overwrite the old ones. This also includes a new plot. The mod will be taking place in the September of 2003, as opposed to the year 1993 in the base game.

Here are some of the new stations that will appear in the mod!

KPYT FM - College Radio/Talk - The State University of Oregon's own Campus Radio Station. Formerly, an introductory platform for students who wanted to get into broadcasting. However... due to recent events, it seems to be stuck on an automation loop...

Examples from the Playlist: The Cranberries - Zombie; Fountain of Wayne - Stacy's Mom; - Evanescence - Bring Me Back to Life

Rise FM - Top 40 - A Top 40 Station from Portland. Expect sappy pop music. At least some of the hosts make it somewhat bearable. Its hard to imagine that this is somehow the most popular station in the Portland Area.

Examples from the Playlist: Shakira - Whenever, Wherever; Crazy in Love - Beyonce; Are You Happy Now - Michelle Branch

Vice FM - 80s - An 80s Station based in Westport. Mornings and Afternoons are hosted by, Jaycee Blaire, and Evenings and Nights are hosted by Max Silver.

Examples from the Playlist: Oingo Boingo - Dead Man's Party; Martha & The Muffins - Echo Beach; Hall & Oates - Maneater

Ranch Radio - Country - A Country Station out of Belford, Hosted by Chet Barkley during the day, but switches over to automaton during the night.

Examples from the Playlist: Hank Snow - I Don't Hurt Anymore; Ray Price - Heartaches By The Number; They're Hanging Me Tonight - Marty Robbins.

Oregon Public Radio (OPR) - Public Radio - Local Affiliate of National Public Broadcasting. News Direct From Washington followed by other talk shows (Replaces NNR)

KTRU - Talk Radio - All the Right Opinions from some amazing conservative thinkers who want to remind you that President Bush is a genius and there are totally WMDs in Iraq and if you disagree you're a communist. Featuring Programs suchs as the Rich Lambert Show in the Mornings, Knowledgebattle in the afternoon and East to West FM at night!

Next Part, whenever I get to it, will show off more of the map that has been completed. Stay tuned.
